Carl Fuhr, 83, Of Franklin Lakes

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Carl Fuhr, of Franklin Lakes, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016. 

Born and raised in Prospect Park, he moved to Franklin Lakes in January 1965. He was a self-employed custom cabinet maker operating Fuhr Built Cabinets in Hawthorne from 1955 until he retired in 2001. He was a life member of the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief in 1964. He attended the Grace Bible Church in North Haledon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and many other outdoor activities. 

Surviving is his wife, Marilyn E. (nee Navara); sons, Ronald C. and his wife Julia, William S. and his wife Tammy and Edward E. and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, Daniel, Matthew, Jacob, Madeline and Rachel; great-granddaughters, Isabella and Elena; and sisters, Gertrude Van Dyk and Madeline Puma. 

He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Lynn Fuhr; and brother, Herman A. Fuhr. 

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Bible Church, 369 High Mountain Road, North Haledon. A private graveside interment service will be conducted Monday at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Grace Bible Church.
